Amorgos Kyklades

Amorgos is located in the center of Southern Aegean is and it is the easternmost island of the Cyclades. It is a mountainous and steep island with rocky cliffs and small valleys. It has excellent beaches with crystal clear waters and a beautiful view of the Aegean Sea. The land is dry so vegetation is limited in brushwood and an enormous variety of herbs.

The intense color of the Cyclades is not only limited to the natural landscape. The picturesque village of Chora, perched on the ridge of the island, with its simple white houses, narrow whitewashed streets, churches and flowery bougainvilleas, is one of the most beautiful villages of the Cyclades. Katapola, the main port of the island, and Aegiali are also beautiful destinations.

Amorgos is a Cycladic island with a rich cultural heritage. It is an ideal destination for those seeking alternative holidays under the Aegean sun. When you visit Amorgos, don’t forget to explore the countryside trails, visit the monastery of Chossoviotissa, perched on a cliff 300 meters above the sea, and of course try the local cuisine and traditional brewed raki. Do not forget that summer here lasts up to eight months a year, so Amorgos is ideal both for summer holidays and for a short spring break.

Access

  • The island is connected by ferry to the ports of Piraeus and Rafina. The boats travel to the island on a regular basis, especially during the summer months. Depending on the ship you choose and the stopovers, your trip to Amorgos can last from five to nine hours.
  • The island has two ports, Katapola and Aegiali which are also connected with neighboring islands, such as Naxos, Syros, Paros, Koufonisia and Santorini (mainly during the summer months for the latter).
