Kos Dodekanisou

Kos located in the center of the Dodecanese and very close to the Turkish coast. It is the third largest island of the Dodecanese and second in population after Rhodes. It has been an extremely popular tourist destination for decades as it is a beautiful place with dense vegetation, hot springs and splendid beaches.

Due to its geographical location, Kos has always been a crossroad of civilizations. On the island you will find early Christian monuments and medieval castles. The ancient city receives a large number of visitors who want to see the altar of Dionysus, the luxurious Roman villas with their rich mosaics and the Roman Odeon. Another famous monument is the Asklepieion of Kos, one of the greatest hospitals of antiquity. After all, the island is the birthplace of Hippocrates, the father of medicine.

Modern Kos has a remarkable tourist infrastructure which is constantly being developed further in order to accommodate the large crowds of tourists who visit each year. There are numerous resorts and cosmopolitan beaches on the island, while the locals are always friendly and helpful. Kos is a destination for those who want to combine holidays with sports activities and entertainment and for those who are attracted by the natural beauty of the island and healing properties of the hot springs.

How to get there:

  • By ship: The island is connected to the port of Piraeus and various other islands of the Aegean, such as Crete, Rhodes (approximately 3 hours), Thessaloniki, Syros (approximately 7-8 hours) etc. The journey runs from Piraeus lasts ten to fifteen hours. Kos is also connected by ship with the rest of the Dodecanese islands and some Cycladic islands. Moreover, the island is connected to Bodrum, Turkey by ferry or speedboat.
  • By plane: Kos has has an airport and is connected to Athens, Thessaloniki and other places in Greece and abroad.
