1st Primary School of Koropi

The 1st Primary School of Koropi was constructed in the early 19th century (around 1903). It was an elementary school with six rooms and six teachers who provided “elementary education as requested by the Minister of Ecclesiastical Affairs and Public Education, G. Theotokis, back in 1889. The school was built based on the designs of D. Kallias. He had also designed four other schools and his plans were accepted on April 10, 1898 by A. Rallis, the Minister of Education back then. The schools are usually referred to as schools of Syggros because in 1899 when Andreas Syggros died, his will included his wish to fund the construction of these schools.

This historical building was restored in 1984.
