Wedding, Peloponnese

In the Peloponnese, and especially in the area of Kalamata, the mother-in-law offers diples (traditional fried sweet pastry with honey and nuts) made by herself, and after the wedding she puts a scarf on the children's head after giving them a spoonful of nuts and honey. Diples of course are offered almost in every region of the Peloponnese, as well as honey with nuts.

In Kyparissia, the bride's family makes together with other goodies and bridal bagel bread. They knead the traditional bread dough and then decorate it with beautiful flowers, birds, stars that they make with the pastry and place in the middle two beautiful pigeons, namely the bride and groom. The bridal bagel bread is cut and offered after the table or held by the couple for a memorial.
